SVC Players to present ‘Pride and Prejudice’

LATROBE, PA – The Saint Vincent College Players will perform “Pride and Prejudice,” adapted by Melissa Leilani from the novel by Jane Austin, at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 1 and Nov. 2 and 2 p.m. on Nov. 3.

The performances will be held in the Performing Arts Center of the Robert S. Carey Student Center on campus.

All tickets are general admission and will be available beginning one hour before each show at the Performing Arts Center box office. Theatre doors will open 30 minutes before the start of each performance. The cost is $15 for adults and $10 for children 12-under. Saint Vincent students, faculty, staff and Benedictines will be admitted free with valid ID.

“Pride and Prejudice” is the story of Elizabeth Bennett, one of five sisters in a family of modest means, and her romance with the wealthy and enigmatic Fitzwilliam Darcy. Through a series of misunderstandings and revelations, Bennett and Darcy confront and overcome their personal flaws—pride and prejudice—and find love and mutual respect.

Monica Slattery, a theology and music performance major from Mount Airy, Maryland, will perform the role of Bennett. Reilly McKay, a digital arts and media major and communication and media studies major from Ligonier, will play Darcy.

The rest of the cast consists of Elizabeth Van Pilsum (Mrs. Bennett), an English major from Columbus, Ohio; Mathias Kirby (Mr. Bennett), an accounting major from Severna Park, Maryland; Ava Adams (Jane Bennett), a communications and media studies major from Altoona; Caitlin Hopkins (Mary Bennett), a digital arts and media major from Lower Burrell; Lindsey Benjamin (Kitty Bennett), a biology major from Saint Mary’s; Abigail Karkowski (Lydia Bennett), a criminology, law and society major from Ridley Park; Nora Cabala (Charlotte Lucas), a data science major from Summerhill; Joe Burke (Charles Bingley), a mathematics and data science major from Grayslake, Illinois; Kaley Lazere (Caroline Bingley), a psychology major from Greensburg; Joey Pacelli (William Collins), a mathematics major from Jeannette; Andrew Downs (George Wickham), a mathematics and music performance major from Loyalhanna; Erin Brody (Lady Catherine de Bourgh), a theology and English major from West Homestead; Brayden Gibson (Col. Fitzwilliam), an engineering major from Warren, Ohio; Mackenzie Shrum (Anne de Bourgh), an early childhood development major from North Huntingdon; and Nathan Shashura (ensemble), a music performance major from Latrobe.

The stage manager is Kate Lipscomb, a data science major from Cranberry Township. The assistant set designer is Sullivan Kennedy, a digital art and media major from Belle Vernon.

The SVC Players production will be directed by Greggory Brandt, assistant professor of theatre in the School of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences and producing artistic director of Saint Vincent Summer Theatre.
