Saint Vincent to host performance of Chamber Orchestra of Pittsburgh and soloist Chantal Braziel, C’15

LATROBE, PA – The Saint Vincent Concert Series is proud to present a performance by the Chamber Orchestra of Pittsburgh, featuring soloist Chantal Braziel, C’15, at 7 p.m. Sept. 6 in the Performing Arts Center, located in the Robert S. Carey Student Center on campus.

This will be the Chamber Orchestra of Pittsburgh’s first performance at Saint Vincent College and will mark the opening weekend of the Orchestra’s 10th anniversary season.

The program will begin with Iranian American composer and Carnegie Mellon University Professor Emeritus Reza Vali’s “Calligraphy No. 19.” Braziel will follow with a performance of Osvaldo Golijov’s “Three Songs for Soprano and Orchestra.” The concert will conclude with one of Tchaikovsky’s masterpieces, “Serenade for Strings.”

A classically trained soprano, Braziel has performed in the ensemble of the Grammy Award-winning opera “Porgy and Bess” at the Metropolitan Opera in New York and was a guest soloist in the Lift Every Voice Concert with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra.

A Pittsburgh native, Braziel received a Bachelor of Arts in Vocal Performance from Saint Vincent College and a Master of Music in Vocal Performance from Carnegie Mellon University.
