McKenna School to Host Constitution Day Lecture

LATROBE, PA – The Center for Political and Economic Thought, part of the Alex G. McKenna School of Business, Economics and Government at Saint Vincent College, will celebrate Constitution Day with a lecture by Jeff Polet, professor of political science at Hope College, on Tuesday, Sept. 14, at 7:30 p.m., at the Fred Rogers Center on campus. 

Polet’s lecture, “Must Our Leaders Be Moral?: Thoughts on Statesmanship and the American Founding,” is free and open to the public.

Polet is the author of articles and essays on the founding of America, education, hermeneutical theory, religion, political life, and other topics in American and Continental political theory. He has edited two volumes on religion and American democracy. His writings have appeared in many journals, including Modern Age, The American Conservative, The Hill, The Political Science Reviewer, The Spectator, and First Things.

Currently, Polet is a Senior Fellow at the Russell Kirk Center for Cultural Renewal and serves as academic adviser for their Kirk on Campus programs. He also serves on the Board of Directors for the Front Porch Republic, an organization dedicated to renewing American culture by fostering ideas necessary for strong communities.
