Mission Statement
Many institutions of higher learning as well as houses of worship have a concert series. These concert series vary in their vision and mission: some are the result of a generous bequest; others serve to showcase an important musical instrument (a concert grand piano or pipe organ) and still others are centered around an architecturally significant performance space. These are certainly valid reasons, however, the most important reason for such a series is people. In a world that is fractured and broken, the arts can restore and unify. Music is the lingua franca of all the world’s peoples.
- The Saint Vincent College Concert Series is dedicated to enriching the local community by presenting outstanding musical performances and fostering connections between music and academic excellence.
- Through a dynamic lineup of artists and genres, we seek to foster a vibrant cultural environment, promote artistic expression, and create memorable experiences that bring students, faculty, and the local community together. These performers are “teaching artists” – those individuals who engage with the audience and use their music to teach and enrich, not just entertain.
- Our series fosters a love for the arts, supports emerging and established artists, and provides students with unique opportunities to engage with and appreciate a wide range of musical genres.
- This series is committed to showcasing the exceptional talent and artistry of our distinguished music faculty. Our mission is to provide a platform for faculty members to share their passion for music with students, colleagues, and the broader community.
- Through this series, we aim to inspire a love for music, encourage artistic growth, and build confidence in our students by providing a supportive and dynamic platform for students to present their work, develop their performance skills, and gain valuable experience in a performance setting.

About
The Saint Vincent College Concert Series presents world-class performances by internationally acclaimed artists during each academic year. The series emphasizes the traditional classical chamber music repertoire, and artists of other genres have been featured as well.
Performers have won top prizes in national and international competitions and have performed on many of the world’s greatest stages.
The Saint Vincent College Concert Series was founded by Rev. Joseph Bronder, O.S.B., in 1971 and guided by his vision until his retirement. In 2007, Br. Nathan Cochran, O.S.B., was named artistic director. After seven years of faithful leadership, Br. Nathan passed away in 2014. Currently, J. Christopher Pardini serves as Concert Series Director.
In 2008, to recognize Fr. Joseph Bronder’s many contributions as a concert pianist, piano teacher and classical music presenter, a prize for piano was named in his honor. Each season, the Bronder Prize for Piano is awarded to an exceptionally talented young pianist at the beginning of his career. The honoree is selected to perform in the Concert Series, and receives a prize consisting of a trophy and cash performance award.
