The academic centers at Saint Vincent College are interdisciplinary institutions that foster intellectual engagement and advance scholarship. These unique centers provide students with opportunities for research, lecture series, professional development, and exposure to art. They also offer assistance with writing, support for small businesses, internships, and more.

 

Center for Catholic Thought and Culture

The CCTC promotes interdisciplinary learning and reflection on liberal education through the Catholic Intellectual and Benedictine Wisdom Traditions. It offers programs that highlight the intellectual rigor of Catholic thought and its positive impact on individuals and communities.

Center for Cybersecurity Studies

The Center for Cybersecurity Studies is integral to the Computing and Information Systems Department, incorporating top industry standards for over 30 years. The program adapts to evolving cybersecurity threats, preparing students for careers through internships, real-world projects, and diverse coursework. Graduates are equipped with skills in areas like penetration testing, cryptography, and forensics, ready for both professional roles and further studies.

Center for Northern Appalachian Studies

The Center for Northern Appalachian Studies documents the heritage of Northern Appalachia through interdisciplinary study and community projects. It offers students hands-on learning experiences and collaborates with local and international communities to preserve and interpret regional histories.

Center for Political and Economic Thought

The CPET is an interdisciplinary public affairs institution that sponsors research and education programs in politics, economics, and moral-cultural affairs. It aims to advance scholarship on issues related to freedom and Western civilization, with a particular focus on the American experience.

Foster and Muriel McCarl Coverlet Gallery

Preserving and interpreting the history of weaving and folk traditions in the Northeastern US, the McCarl Coverlet Gallery offers students hands-on experience through paid work-study positions and internships, and fosters research, exhibits, and educational events centered around its collection of over 300 antique American coverlets.

James and Margaret Tseng Loe China Studies Center

The James and Margaret Tseng Loe China Studies Center offers students opportunities to study Chinese language and culture on campus and abroad. It promotes cross-cultural understanding between China and the U.S. through education and cultural exchange, with scholarships available for study abroad.

Kennametal Center for Operational Excellence

The KCOE offers qualified students internships in organizations where they can apply their knowledge of operational excellence, learn, and contribute. By aligning industry and academia, the Center aims to create a pipeline of talented individuals who support community growth and help employers achieve success.

Small Business Development Center

The SBDC supports the economy of Westmoreland and Fayette Counties by providing entrepreneurs with education, information, and tools to build successful businesses. Established in 1984, the SBDC offers consulting services and educational programs to help start and grow small businesses, making it a great resource for entrepreneurs.

Verostko Center for the Arts

The Verostko Center advances the arts through rotating exhibitions and a permanent collection of over 4,000 objects. It serves as an educational hub, offering students opportunities to engage with diverse perspectives and ideas, and to interact directly with artists.
