Making a Report to Saint Vincent
Individuals have the right to make a report to Saint Vincent College’s Public Safety Office, local law enforcement, and/or state police or choose not to report; or to report to the Title IX Office. An individual may pursue either, both, or neither of these options. Reports to the College and law enforcement may be made simultaneously. A report to the College seeks to address violations of its policy, while a report to law enforcement seeks to address violations of criminal statutes. The aims and objectives are different.
The College encourages all community members to report prohibited conduct in order to access resources and support, and to maintain a safe campus environment, as well as restore an individual’s ability to access the education programs and activities of Saint Vincent.
Reporting to law enforcement provides access to the criminal justice system to address prohibited conduct that may constitute a crime under the criminal statutes of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania or federal law. Police have a unique legal authority to seek and execute search warrants, to collect forensic evidence that may have been left at relevant locations, and to make an arrest when there is probable cause to believe that a crime has been committed.
The Title IX Office is available to assist students, faculty, and staff with any questions they may have about the College’s policy. Please reach out to the Title IX Coordinator for more information.
The chart below shows a brief synopsis on key differences between reporting to the College and law enforcement, click here to downlaod a PDF of this chart.
A report to Saint Vincent is not a report to law enforcement, and a report to law enforcement is not a report to Saint Vincent.

Reporting to law enforcement
Saint Vincent College strongly encourages those who may be the victim of criminal conduct to contact law enforcement and will assist in making that contact.
The Pennsylvania State Police, the law enforcement agency with jurisdiction over criminal acts occurring on Saint Vincent property, and may be reached directly by calling the Greensburg Barracks at 724-832-3288.
If you are in need of emergency medical or police assistance, call 911. Saint Vincent can assist you in doing this.
Amnesty
Saint Vincent provides amnesty to students for violations of its policies on drug or alcohol use when connected to a report of Prohibited Conduct. Amnesty provides students the ability to seek assistance for themselves or someone else by reducing the fear of facing disciplinary action for violating the College’s policy on alcohol and other drugs. It removes barriers that prevent students from obtaining needed medical attention or other assistance when sexual harassment or sexual misconduct has occurred. The College does not have the authority to grant amnesty for criminal, civil or legal consequences for violations of federal, state, or local laws.
