 Portrait Chansler Poole

Chansler Poole, C'14

Men’s cross country/track and field

From 2010-14, Chansler Poole put together the most highly decorated career in the history of the Saint Vincent cross country and track programs.

On the cross country course, Poole burst onto the scene as a freshman in 2010, placing fourth at the Presidents’ Athletic Conference Championship and becoming the first runner in the history of the Saint Vincent men’s program to qualify for the NCAA Division III National Championship. He again placed fourth at the 2011 PAC Championship before earning runner-up honors in 2012. Poole culminated his phenomenal cross country career as a senior in 2013, winning the PAC championship, being named the PAC Runner of the Year, and qualifying for the NCAA Division III Championship for the second time, where he placed 69th in a 300-runner field. In addition to his individual success, Poole led the Bearcats to the PAC team championship in all four of his seasons.

On the track, he made history in 2013 when he won the PAC title in the 1,500-meter run and became the first runner in team history to qualify for the NCAA Division III Track and Field Championship, where he placed seventh in the finals to become SVC’s first track and field All-American. He repeated the feat as a senior in 2014, placing eighth in the NCAA’s 1,500-meter finals to earn All-America honors once again.

He remains the team’s record-holder in the 1,500, with a career-best time of 3:49.22, while he was also a member of the Bearcats’ 4x400 relay squad that set a still-standing team record of 3.21.23 at the 2013 PAC Track and Field Championships.

A native of Penn Township, Pennsylvania, Poole graduated from Saint Vincent College with a bachelor’s in biology and minors in entrepreneurship and music.  Portrait Dillon Stith

Dillon Stith, C’14

Men’s basketball

Over his four-year, 112-game career, the power forward amassed 1,310 points, grabbed 697 rebounds and blocked 118 shots, while shooting an even 50 percent from the field and 72 percent from the foul line.

After averaging 7.6 points and 4.8 rebounds over his freshman and sophomore campaigns, Stith burst out as a junior in 2012-13, earning All-PAC honors after averaging 11.7 points and 5.5 rebounds, and ranking second in the PAC in both field goal percentage (.550) and blocked shots (28). The 2012-13 season also saw the Bearcats claim their first PAC title, as they finished 23-6 overall and 15-1 in PAC play.

Stith then put together one of the finest seasons in program history as a senior in 2013-14, as he led the PAC in rebounding (10.5 reb/g), ranked second in both scoring (19.5 pts/g) and blocked shots (38) and fifth in field goal percentage (.511). On Feb. 5, Stith turned in a game for the ages, scoring a team-record 50 points and grabbing 18 rebounds in a triple-overtime bout at Thiel. He was named the PAC Player of the Year, leading SVC to a 22-7 record and its second straight conference title and NCAA tournament berth.

After graduating from Saint Vincent College with a bachelor’s degree in political science, the Bedford, Virginia, native has enjoyed an extremely successful professional basketball career overseas.

From 2015-17, Stith played in Australia’s Big V league, first for the Melbourne Tigers and then the McKinnon Cougars, before moving to Ireland in 2016 to play for the Belfast Star in the Super League, where he averaged a league-best 27.4 points. He then returned to the McKinnon Tigers for a three-year stint, earning league All-Star honors in all three seasons and being named the league’s MVP in both 2017 and 2019, leading the team to the 2019 Big V championship. Following the COVID-19 pandemic, Stith played for Melbourne’s Frankston Blues in both 2021 and 2022, averaging 18.8 points and 7.5 rebounds over the two seasons.

He spent the 2023 season with the Waverly Falcons, averaging 22 points per game, before moving to Europe to play for BBC Arantia Larochette of the Luxembourg Basketball League in 2023-24. He will return to Australia for the 2024-25 season, as he recently signed with the Cairns Taipans.

 Portrait Christopher “Kip” Watkins

Christopher “Kip” Watkins, C’05

Baseball

Christopher “Kip” Watkins was a major contributor to some of the most successful baseball teams in Saint Vincent program history.

Watkins needed little time in establishing himself as one of the top pitchers in team history, as in 2003, his first season with the Bearcats, he became just the program’s third All-American in its long history after going 8-2 on the mound with a 2.61 earned run average and 60 strikeouts in 65.2 innings pitched, leading the team to a still-standing single-season record 27 victories. In 2004, Watkins remained one of the aces of the staff, earning four wins and throwing six complete games, while striking out 50 batters in 64 innings, as the Bearcats won the American Mideast Conference championship and advanced to the NAIA Region IX championship game, one game shy of the NAIA World Series.

As a senior in 2005, Watkins continued his dominance on the mound, earning six wins and setting program records for strikeouts (77) and innings pitched (83.1), while he also was one of the team’s primary offensive threats, playing 27 games at shortstop and batting .345 with 29 hits, six doubles, two home runs and 19 RBIs. He graduated as the team’s all-time leader with 182 strikeouts, a record that stood for 18 years.

Watkins graduated from Saint Vincent College with a bachelor’s degree in psychology, and went on to earn a master’s degree in education/counselor education from Duquesne University. A licensed professional counselor, he works as a counselor for holistic health for Gestalt Development Center in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, pioneering the use of barbell strength training and yoga into his counseling practice.

He and his wife, Stephanie (Hewitson), also a 2005 Saint Vincent College graduate, reside in Harrisburg with their four Jack Russell terriers.
