Pre-Arrival Support
- Pre-arrival online meetings: Virtual sessions to help you prepare for your journey to SVC.
- Transportation from PIT International Airport upon arrival: Arrangements to ensure you have a smooth transition from the airport to campus.
Orientation and Transition
- Welcome Week Orientation Program: A comprehensive program to help you transition to SVC and the US, complete government check-in, and get registered in SEVIS.
Immigration and Legal Support
- Understanding and following immigration regulations: Guidance on maintaining your visa status and complying with US immigration laws.
- Immigration questions: Assistance with any queries related to your visa and immigration status.
- Visa renewal: Support with the process of renewing your visa.
- Social Security Administration: Help with obtaining a Social Security Number if needed.
- Department of Motor Vehicles: Assistance with getting a driver’s license or state ID.
Day-to-Day and Cultural Adjustment
- Adjusting to life in the United States: Tips and resources to help you adapt to your new environment.
- Resolving social or cultural issues: Support in navigating cultural differences and resolving any related challenges.
- Day-to-day support: General assistance with everyday needs and questions.
- Understanding US healthcare: Information on accessing and using healthcare services in the US
Employment Support
- On-campus employment: Guidance on finding and securing jobs on campus.
- Authorized off-campus employment (OPT and CPT): Information and support for Optional Practical Training (OPT) and Curricular Practical Training (CPT) opportunities.
Programs and Events
- Programs and events: Opportunities to engage with the community through activities like International Coffee Hour, the Annual “Family” Picnic, Thanksgiving Dinner, winter break activities, International Education Week celebrations, and more.
Health Insurance
- International students, identified as F-1 or J-1 visa status, are automatically enrolled into the State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) and the cost of the insurance is applied to their student account.
